Collaboration — Organizations

Collaboration. Co-labor — in action!

Working together with others while creating an inclusive and diverse environment with good communication practices.

The Hopi prophecy/prayer of 2000 says “the time of the lone wolf is over.” https://mollylarkin.com/hopi-prophecy-of-2000/ Our executive director has taken that to heart in Our Sacred Earth’s work.

Here are the organizations and people Our Sacred Earth works in collaboration with and some of the work we are doing together. Please consider joining us!

Right Relationship Boulder https://rightrelationshipboulder.org/ (RRB)

Mission: “We are Indigenous and non-Native people working with individuals, local organizations and governments to support Indigenous Peoples’ connection to land, raise Indigenous voices and practice right relationships with the Native peoples who lived in the Boulder Valley historically and those who live here today.”

Our Sacred Earth’s Executive Director Bonnie Sundance sits on the RRB Coordinating Council. She is also the facilitator of the RRB Education and the Schools Working Group.

Her belief is that the worldview of the Indigenous peoples of North America is a healing antidote to the experiment of the colonial settler worldview, which has put extractive and profiteering economies into primary position; its worst aspects have degraded the Earth and brought us into climate crises. Bringing Indigenous cultures and histories into all educational institutions to sit beside the colonial settler and unregulated capitalist approach and asking students to look at the impacts of each can be a thoughtful step toward pointing to the preferred ways of right relationship with our sacred Earth.

11th Hour Calling https://www.11thhourcalling.org/

Calling for Urgent Climate Action

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of every month, we join with interfaith communities to call attention to the urgency of our climate crisis. We choose a focus and action for that month as well and broadcast it through email lists.

Our focus is collaboration with organizations working to get big banks and institutions to divest from their financial support of fossil fuels.

We recommend people take climate action in all these levels: personal, household, community, government and spiritual.

(Our Sacred Earth Executive Director sits on the steering committee of this group and contributes to monthly gatherings and actions.)

Green Faith Circle Boulder

Welcome people of all faiths and spiritual traditions who love the Earth! We are an interfaith group working together to protect the planet and create a more compassionate, loving and just world. We host monthly social meetups, cross-quarter gatherings and interfaith actions within our Boulder County communities that provide opportunities for spiritual reflection, education, training, and creative mobilizing around climate change and environmental justice. from https://www.meetup.com/greenfaith-boulder-county/

Time Bank Boulder https://timebankboulder.org/

Time banking is a form of exchange using time credits or hours instead of money. It enables people to step outside of putting monetary charges on services and instead everyone’s time is valued equally. Our executive director has been a participating member of Time Bank Boulder for 13 years, and Our Sacred Earth has been an organizational member for several years.

Our Sacred Earth has offered several potlucks and guided walks in the forest with TBB.

Our Sacred Earth has benefited from time exchange through intertrade — particularly in receiving assistance on research to support the guidelines suggested in this website — which connects people beyond the members of one’s own Time Bank.

Time Bank Boulder Core Values:

· Assets: Every person has valuable skills, talents, and knowledge to share

· Reciprocity: We gracefully serve others and gracefully receive the service of others

· Responsibility: The health and success of the community depends on each of us participating

· Respect: Every person is equally accepted, honored, and held accountable

· Community: By helping each other, we build social capital and develop strong bonds of friendship, trust, and support
